For unexpected gifts of kindness gratefully received

For hope that shines brighter than any oppressing difficulty

For beauty unfurling before us, lifting up our spirits,

For love gently offered, gratefully received.

When my peace is destroyed

 

Lord,

When my peace is destroyed

And torment is about to descend,

Strengthen me with your love.

Help me not fall into despair.

Banish all fear

That I might see a clear path of coping.

Bless my days with light filled wisdom

Protect my heart from angry anguish.

Lift me higher

And lead me forward 

Towards a better moment.

The only way is through

Surely the greatest service you can give someone, especially someone horrendously ill and profoundly disabled, is to care, really care. That, in our experience , means three things :

First it means your ability and willingness to listen with every part of you to the other person, mind, body, emotion, spirit.

Never negate their reality or their experience.

Second it means to fully understand, as much as you are able to do, what the other person is telling you and what their needs are on the deepest possible levels.

Have an open heart and a willingness to listen and learn.

Third it means your capacity to respond, to touch another’s soul, one human to another, with light, creativity, insight, joy, kindness, warmth and love.

God gives us many gifts and opportunities to grow in using them. Let us open ourselves to God’s purpose, and that is Love.

When everything is lost

 

When everything is lost from view

And irritation comes gnawing at my mind

Lord lead me to a higher, better place

Where peace reigns

And clarity returns.

To see with new eyes

 

We find Placing our hearts and minds in God lifts our vision higher, helps us see things with a new perspective. This is not to deny the very real pain of any situation, but to bless it with hope.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SEEING WITH NEW EYES

One of the most important things you can do, we have discovered, in the face of a seemingly stuck situation, is to try and see it with “new eyes”.

This is particularly challenging when you are severely ill and there seems no path forward. However if you look instead with kindness, with hope and possibility, maybe you can :

1. See a bigger picture

2. See a wider context

3. See a different path forward

4. Find a peaceful place in yourself, even if you can’t change the situation.

5. Reframe it.

6. Gain greater understanding.

7. Bring a different feeling to your situation

8. Come from a kinder position to yourself and others

9. Adopt a gentler approach to your life and any difficulties you are having

10. Find renewal

11. Find a way to focus on the present as opposed to carrying the worries of the past that limit you.

12 . Free yourself up to see things differently.

13. Find comfort and upliftment from a spiritual source.

14. Find a new idea, that might make all the difference.

The Echoes of your life

 

We still grieve the loss of our dear little dog, almost two years on, it still hurts to think too deeply of him. It is only through grace and faith that we have moved beyond the desperate painful loss of our dearest companion,

Yet still when we sit in the garden, we feel his essence and so many memories flood back. The utter sadness of the immediate loss has gone from the surface, yet still when we think of him, we cry. Today I felt him close by,

I write this poem.

The echoes of your life

Run deep in our veins.

Your loss is far beyond words.

Our hearts are still broken

On the deepest kevel,

So much missed,

So loved,

So very precious.

We celebrate your life

But we oh so sadly grieve your death

And our sad part in it.

Blessed little corgi,

We will love you forever.

May we all find comfort and support when we go through such a loss. May Hod help us when we need an extra lif to get through the day.

And see His face shining, 

Radiant, before us,

Encouraging,

Full of compassion,
