Prayer booklets

Having lived in a state of severe intractable illness for decades, often feeling like death was near and also knowing too many friends and family members taken from the world, having suffered grievously with various different illnesses, we have always sought solace and strength in prayer.

We have never found anything, though, that had the right words for the situations that we found ourselves in, for it is a very difficult and sometimes too painful topic for many to deal with and each person’s experience and context is different and unique to them.
Finding words that might help people face death, whether it is our own or someone else’s death, can mean so much.
As each person, who we have known personally, has died, Linda has written a prayer or a poem, either to help support them on this last journey or to honour their precious life.
This is the time where the right words, tenderly offered, can give much needed love and support to someone dying or to family and friends left behind.
On Holy Way, you can find a series of small booklets which offer prayers for both healing and dying. Do explore them.

Just as I am

No need to be anyone else more important, rich, successful, well known, going somewhere, getting, having, wanting, needing this or that. Just me and my bike.

And that fills me with the deepest happiness.

Obscure, no one, nothing, on my bike, this midday. Battling my way through a strong head wind, I turn my head to one side, spotting as I do so, a single white toadstool, poking its head above the grass, all alone in the hedgerow.

In its glorious perfection,

I suddenly see myself.

Just as I am.

No need to be anyone else more important, rich, successful, well known, going somewhere, getting, having, wanting, needing this or that. Just me and my bike.

And that fills me with the deepest happiness.

Mercy

Mercy

Mercy flows from the intention to love.

Mercy flows from the heart of great pain

And always leads to the Heart of Love, the Mighty Trinity,

Whether that moment of healing, that is touched by Mercy, is instantaneous or unfolding as a process, you can be certain that when Mercy is given out, it is waiting to be received in all moments.

It is the most precious gift given and it leads us to Oneness and Wonder.

It leads always to Love.

A prayer for protection

When  so much assails you daily

And you feel the need of spiritual protection

May you know that

The Lord is with you and will  provide it,

That His for you is everlasting,

That an angels guards you

And that all will somehow be well,

Even when it does not feel that way.

Amen

Silence

I was thinking how my greatest learning has come from being silent, just sitting somewhere on a bench.
It is only in the silence of your heart that you can listen with love, empathy and understanding.
It is only in the silence of your mind that you can you be fully present to another person without distraction, or wishing you were some place else or busy doing something much more important or interesting.
And it is only in the silence of your body that you can be truly available to help another , with grace, presence and inner peace.
The most meaningful moments of precious connection, I have found, always come from the silence.

The hurting places

Come into the hurting places if you will.

Come gently into the hurting places of my body,

Caress then gently if you will,

Tenderly heal them if you will.

Come gently now into the hurting places of my heart.

Release the many unshed tears if you will,

Fill my vulnerability with your strength if you will.

Come gently now into the hurting places of my mind,

Touch each painful moment with love if you will,

Lift my thoughts to higher places if you will.

Come gently now into the hurting places of my soul,

Let your light pour into me if you will,

Give me the gifts of your spirit if you will.

Come into the hurting places if you will

and make me whole.

Amen

Caring: A Call

Our limitations and our wounds, our struggles as a carer, are a gift, because they lead us to love.

The quest then, hidden within the path of caring for another, is to discover your mission, the true purpose and meaning of your life. This may not be what the world would necessarily value or see with the same eyes. Our situation as a carer, takes on new hue, a different light, when looked upon with the eyes of love.
As you see yourself and your situation in a more understanding, less judgemental, more aware, more compassionate, kindly way, you begin to grow. Caring is a powerful call to to love, not just the other person but yourself too. It is a call to progress , to open your heart to new meaning. You are called to be greater than you ever thought possible, you are empowered to
greatness.
Love blesses you and you are transformed into more and more perfect love.

Meaningless?
