Praying in the Name of Jesus Christ

The question perhaps for us is how do we pray in the name of Jesus?

What does this mean. We must look to the meaning of oneness in order to understand how this can be possible and that is clearly revealed in John17. For Jesus asks that we might be in the Father and the Son in the same way as they are one in each other.
This is an incredible request that spans time and space, heaven and earth and all eternity. It is awesome in magnitude and unquantifiable. It is almost beyond understanding.
Yet this is how we find that we can come to know the Father and the Son and to truly pray in the name of Jesus Christ. The awe with which we should approach such power then is vast and huge. The magnanimity of such a gift is beyond description. Thus as we come to know the Father and the Son, so we come to the true realisation of our relationship with each and we begin to live and pray in a new way, with new confidence, for we are truly one with them, as they are truly one. How can such prayer then not be answered?
Let us remember the words of St James ( James 5) as we pray and therefore be inspired to pray with the utmost confidence, for he tells us that the prayer of a righteous person has great power indeed, as it is working. And that must surely bring us total confidence and trust.

As my wife recollects, from contemplating on what it truly means to pray in the name of Jesus Christ:

And I was shown that to pray in the name of Jesus is to pray in the Power of Truth and of Mercy and that is to pray in the Goodness, that is the Heart of Love (the Holy Trinity).
It is to touch all healing, all love, all that is healed and therefore your prayer is already answered and touched by that same Power which is the Life of Christ and the Light of Life.
It is Joy complete and utterly present. It is to be truly present with all that is and thus to know with absolute certainty that your prayer is known, heard and answered all in that moment of praying, for that is the meaning of Mercy – of Christ’s death and Resurrection. It is the completion of healing, the Oneness of Love. It is Truth and it is completely andtotally Life evermore. Amen !!
