Being a pillar of strength

...it is SO hard, perhaps it's the hardest place of all, trying to be a pillar of strength to another, while being acutely aware of one's own brokenness, fraility and vulnerability. The amazement, to me, is how we do bring strength and courage. The older I get, the more I am astonished at the power of love to transcend our tininess, maybe it is because ,as Leonard Cohen once wrote, "there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." Out of our brokenness healing flows.
